A super technical and progressive slab of instrumental jazz-influenced rock. Lots of it is an excuse to show off the members’ musical virtuosity (Derek Sherinian’s keyboard and Virgil Donati’s drums in particular stand out to me) for better or worse, but amidst the overwhelming technical soup that music in this genre often degenerates into, there are some genuinely fun tracks here that are positively augmented by the complexity on offer.
