A modern, up-to-date, spiritual sequel to Dungeon Keeper 2, complete with a ’legally-distinct’ lick of paint. I’m happy that this game exists, the more Dungeon Keeper-esque games the better (and try getting DK2 running on modern systems!), but its done little but to reinforce my belief that the original Dungeon Keeper is still the best.
The game does successfully build on the foundations of Dungeon Keeper 2, taking the same core and adding a few twists and some new gimmicks (honestly too many?) but repeats some mistakes copied from its source material, and makes a few of its own in attempting to improve - this is far more focused on the RTS aspect than either of the Dungeon Keeper games, and while some correction was needed (DK2 was glacially slow) it over-corrects and it ends up compromising the construction and management side of the game, which is a great shame - especially given that was a core part of why I and so many others fell in love with this franchise and type of game in the first place.
