Straightforwardly a platformer with fantastic controls that perfectly fit the “easy to learn, hard to master” rule - one that’s so fundamental to get right with games like these. Not quite as flashy or visually interesting perhaps compared to other platformers out there (although that means there’s always a visual clarity that can be found lacking with increased visuals), but it has a laser focus on tight gameplay and doing as much as possible with the humble jump and movement keys.
That fair but difficult learning curve combined with the frankly innumerable and intimidating amount of levels means you could happily play this and only this for your platformer fill for the rest of your life, and you’d miss out on less than you might expect.
